Intermodal Transportation

InterBulk is committed to delivering the huge cost and efficiency benefits of intermodal containerisation to a wide range of customers in the chemical, food and other industries.

The global tankcontainer market is mushrooming, having grown from zero to 180,000 units today. InterBulk is proud of its standing as one of the leading players in this hugely competitive market.

We run the world’s third largest fleet of 6,500 Tankcontainers, and Europe’s largest fleet of 13,500 Dry Bulk Containers.

Our combined fleet of 20,000 units is fully intermodal. Each unit is equally at home on the back of a skeletal truck, on a railway wagon or in the hold of an ocean-going or cross-channel ferry, helping clients reduce their carbon footprint.

Security of the liquid or dry bulk cargo is a key benefit. Once loaded the cargo remains sealed, safe and secure until it reaches its destination.

Our Dry Bulk Containers deploy Flexi-liner, or ‘Bag-in-Box’ technology for powders and granules. We also operate lined FlexiTank Containers for neutral liquids. Our ISO-Tank fleet offers complete security for hazardous and non-hazardous liquids.

Intermodal ISO-Tanks and Containers eliminate the need to load or reload bulk cargoes in transit, saving on time and avoiding the loss of materials.

The biggest benefit is that the longest or most complex journey can be planned as a single logistical exercise.

InterBulk’s expertise in logistics enables us to calculate and implement the best possible route, combining road, rail and sea legs, to achieve maximum economic and environmental advantage.

Our services are underpinned by our IT systems which include electronic ordering capability, Track and Trace capacity around the globe, and sophisticated reporting functions.
