Integrated Catalyst Logistics
Integrated logistics chain for catalyst material
CleanCat™ introduces a “New” dimension to the activity of storage and transportation of the catalyst to and from the manufacture’s or the regeneration plant to site - the CleanCat ISO-Veyor™ (CIV) which dispenses with the significant logistical challenges in terms of movement and storage before and after the charge out when using big bags and drums.
The CIV replaces big bags or drums offering simplified logistics as one CIV is the equivalent to 96 barrels or drums. The CIV is a combined intermodal transportable container and dense phase conveying vessel for the delivery of new catalyst or the removal of spent catalyst. When used as a delivery system, its function is to dense phase pneumatically convey catalyst to the CDC unit at the top of the reactor. When used for the removal of spent catalyst, it is filled by gravity at the reactor and emptied by pneumatically conveying at the re-processing site. The CIV has the dimensions of a standard ISO container for handling and transport and is built to comply with ISO-1496-3 and CSC. Compressed air is used to empty the CIV when in the vertical position. The CIV is self-contained and is certified to the Pressure Equipment Directive.
The CIV is a self contained Dense Phase pneumatic conveying system in the form of a conical tank built within a 20ft. ISO frame which allows the unit to be transported by road, rail and sea utilising current infrastructure’s. As part of the CleanCat™ service they will be responsible for the filling of the CIV at whatever location, the transportation of them to and from site, the discharge of the units thus providing a total “Duty of Care” package to the refinery.
The benefits of utilising the CIV are:
- Reduced number of lifts involved during charge out, leading to reduced health and safety risks
- No need for special undercover storage prior to the charge out
- Reduced logistic challenges (i.e.) for a 100m3 reactor some 100 Big Bags would be required, or aprox.250 Drums Only 7 CIV’s would be required
- Once loaded into the CIV the catalyst is protected against any weather or any other form of contamination
- By utilising of the CIV loading rates of 35/40tph. Are achievable?
- The CIV is also suitable for the transportation of “spent catalyst
