Food
Food logistics is a growth sector as consumer taste is diversifying and demanding more variety and choice. Likewise economic factors and legislation are driving changes within the food industry as the focus intensifies on value for money but also without compromise to quality. Supply chains are becoming extended and greater distances are being covered. Add in the need for greater environmental awareness and best practice and the demand for quality driven Intermodal transport solutions for food products is increasing.
InterBulk’s tried and tested methodology has been crossed over successfully and is rapidly becoming producers and end-user’s first choice for the safe and economic dry-bulk transportation of their food grade materials.
InterBulk undertook over 15,000 ‘food-bulk’ movements in 2007 of products such as Sugar, Starch, Food additives, Flour and Cereals, on a pan-european basis. This figure is set to increase during 2008 as more customers lock into the benefits.
Due to the intermodal benefits offered by the InterBulk system, strategic storage of products can be made close to or adjacent to end-user’s premises. Having already traveled over great distances, containers loaded with product can be called off for delivery at short-notice, removing the need for costly on-site storage and inventory.
As Europe’s largest dry-bulk food carrier, Interbulk understands the needs of the food manufacturing industry, consistent high standards of delivery service with product integrity and security of supply is paramount. As a commitment to this, InterBulk are certified to GMP for both liquid and bulk divisions.
